Spring Term
Art - Still Life
In Art this week, we have been exploring still life. Our first challenge was called 'draw three shapes'. We investigated the shadows that different items create and used pencil and ink to create the different shapes we could see.
Project: Reading Corner!
Grizedale Class have had a very busy morning! We set ourselves the challenge to make our reading corner a more inviting place, organise our books and create some rewards for brilliant reading at home. We started the morning by re-sorting our books into their correct levels and used our knowledge of ordering decimals to help us make sure the books were in the right place. After that, we grouped our books into their genres using the front cover and blurb to help us. We were also very busy creating reading certificates, completing book quizzes and jotting down exciting book ideas!
PE - Trust and Trails
In PE this week we have been exploring our unit 'Trust and Trails'. This week, our first challenge was to create different images using only our bodies. We had to make sure that everybody in our team was being used and had to work hard to listen to everyone's ideas. Can you spot a tree, hot air balloon and plane?
Art - Storytelling Through Drawing (Revisit)
We have been revisiting our drawing skills from last term. We used our sketching and drawing skills to recreate an image of a boat within a storm. We thought about how we could create light and dark using only our pencil and make the viewer feel like they were inside our art!
English - Mousehole Cat
In English this week, we have been learning the storm-setting description from our class story, Mousehole Cat, off by heart. To help each sentence stick, we have been creating story maps!
DT - Textiles
We have been working on textiles in DT and have been exploring different fabrics to think about the properties and what they might be used for. We also have been creating beautifully presented work in our sketchbooks to show off what we have learned.
