Information for New Starters

At Scorton School, we ensure that any child joining our class feels secure, valued and nurtured. Personal, social and emotional well being underpins everything that we do at any time of the year, but particularly in the first few weeks of school.  By playing and learning with your child, we quickly get to know each child as an individual; their interests, strengths and any worries they might have. 

Effective relationships with feeder nurseries ensure that transitions are smooth and learning experiences provided in school match the needs of every child.  Strong relationships with parents help to ensure that our new starters settle quickly. 

Parents receive a daily update of their child's day in the first few weeks via Class Dojo-  this enables parents to see how just how their child is settling in and is also a lovely aide memoire for the children to see and talk about once at home!

Reception children settle so quickly at our school! They join a class of Year 1 and 2 children; a settled class family of role models who love to provide peer support and friendship.
