Scorton C of E

Primary School

Visitors

We love having visitors at Scorton and are very lucky that our children meet a range of people from within our village, the wider community and across England to learn about their culture, religion, hobbies, lifestyles and knowledge!

Sam from The Dogs Trust

Our school was so lucky to have been visited by Sam from The Dogs Trust who came to teach a lesson to each class. In Grizedale Class, we learnt about how to keep ourselves safe around dogs and how to make sure that everything we do keeps dogs safe and happy too! Sam taught us how to be role models for other people, the kind ways to show dogs we love them and when to leave dogs alone. All of our class earnt their 'Be Dog Smart' stickers and learnt lots!

Hinduism Workshop

We had a fantastic morning learning all about the religion of Hinduism. As well as learning about their Diwali festival that took place on Sunday 12 November, we also learnt about Hindu traditions and were able to ask lots of questions and explore lots of traditional Hindu symbols and objects.

Magic Door Education

Grizedale Class had an amazing time at their Anglo-Saxon workshop with Magic Door Education!

Skateboarding Academy UK

We have had the BEST time at our skateboarding workshop today with Skateboarding Academy UK. Each class had their own tailored workshop and we loved learning new vocabulary and some excited skating tricks!

Our KS2 children had a visit from Diane from Craft Diane Gift and Art Gallery and Crafts. Grizedale children made some beautiful Christmas lanterns by designing and making their own stained glass. Nicky Nook children created some wonderful glass Christmas Trees using very intricate glass pieces.

Erika’s Textile Workshops

Bowland Class had the most amazing morning, working with textile artist Erika Grime. They blended their own wools using a drum carder and then created some beautiful wet felted mats using Kandinsky's Circles as their inspiration.

Nicky Nook had an amazing morning learning the art of loom weaving. Erika then made their finished fabric into a wall hanging to go up in school - it’s so beautiful A big thank you to Erika who put so much work into preparing everything and teaching us this brilliant new skill!

Jonny from NISCU

We were very excited to see Jonny from NISCU North Lancs North Lancs today who visited us as part of his 30 day Prayer Walk - he wore his kangaroo outfit just for us

Chas Jacobs

We have been extremely lucky to have a visit from artist, Jas Chacobs. Grizedale & Nicky Nook created sketches in the style of Chas and then Chas has demonstrated how to create a sunset using watercolours and the children have experimented in their sketch books. We had a brilliant day and loved replicating his work.
