Friday 23rd October

There are lots of thank yous to say this week!

It was lovely to see so many of you at our Harvest Service on Monday - I have to apologise for our technical difficulties - it definitely made sure I got my steps in this week! Thank you also for your donations to the St. Thomas's foodbank which were very gratefully received.

Our teachers have asked me to pass on their thanks for all your kind words at Parents and Carers Evening yesterday. We know some people had trouble booking their appointments with our new system - we will make sure we send out instructions in summer to make it more straightforward!

Finally we must thank the School Association for the fabulous spooky disco which raised £494 - thank you to everyone who came along.

Bowland

This week in Bowland we have been exploring toys from the past! We wrote about how toys have changed over time and what has stayed the same. We created beautiful artwork inspired by Henri Matisse and we hope you spotted our snails at Parents' Evening! We finished our DT food unit by making delicious vegetable kebabs, using mushrooms, courgettes, peppers, red onion and cherry tomatoes. What a tasty week!

Grizedale

This week in English, Grizedale Class have been writing letters to Garstang Fire Service to thank them for visiting school. We learned so much from them about how to become a firefighter, the equipment they use, important skills they need to use and what it's like to be in the fire service. We also asked LOTS of tricky questions and got to see some of the equipment being used (lots of us loved nearly getting blown away by the giant fan!) In Geography this week, we have been learning about the regions, counties and cities of England and have been conducting independent research into the counties and cities we live in.

 Nicky Nook

We have had a busy week of learning in Nicky Nook as we wrote non-chronological reports about mythical creatures.  We created these after being inspired by 'The Jabberwocky' poem.  We have been learning how to use subject specific vocabulary and cohesive devices to link the paragraphs. On Thursday we had a music day where we played the recorder and developed our composition skills and ability to read music. Bowland class loved looking at the instruments we had made from recycled materials!

Bowland -  Mahnoor is our Lead Learner in Bowland this week - she tried so hard in her Big Maths, scored 10/10 in her CLIC and moved up in her Learn Its. She has worked super hard on her writing this week, taking great care in her handwriting and punctuation.

Grizedale—Lead learner this week is Arya. Arya has written an outstanding letter letter to the fire service this week - even after being unwell during their visit! She also has been working hard all week across all of our learning and always works with such care and effort.

Nicky Nook - Hatim has been an incredible role model for learning this week. He contributes to all class discussions and works incredibly hard. Well done!
