Friday 6th November

We hope you all had a lovely half term! Christmas seems to be zooming towards us now - we have chosen our nativity performance for this year and it won't be long before we start our rehearsals. Get ready for 'Bethlehem - The Musical!'

A big THANKYOU to everyone who made a donation for our Harvest Festival. St. Thomas's Foodbank have written to say how grateful they are and what a difference your help makes.

Please don't forget to order your Christmas Cards and other personalised gifts from 'Art Projects for Schools'. The Scorton School shop closes on Sunday.

Bowland

What a busy start to this half term! We've begun reading Pumpkin Soup and exploring different types of sentences. Our Year 1 and 2 children followed instructions carefully to guide our Reception children as they created their own bonfire pictures. Our EYFS children have been zooming around on their new scooters, bikes and trikes and were wonderfully sensible, following our rules beautifully. They are loving our new Classroom setup and we are so proud of them!

Grizedale

This week we have been learning about persuasive letters and have been analysing different examples to create our own class toolkit and collect some excellent vocabulary. We're looking forward to finding out more about persuasive devices to then write our own letters as the Spider and the Fly. On Monday in PE, we took part in some different team games to test our listening and communication skills. We found it very tricky and have lots of ideas for how to improve next week! In History this week, we have been learning about the Neolithic and Mesolithic periods of the Stone Age. We analysed different sources about each time period to explore the lives of families during those times and worked out the similarities and differences between the times!

 Nicky Nook

In Nicky Nook this week we have been developing our skills in computer programming. We have programmed and tested micro-bits. After using portmanteau we have created new creatures that could lurk in the 'tulgey wood' with the Jabberwock. We wrote non-chronological reports about our creatures. In maths we have been developing our skills with fractions.

Bowland -  Lead Learner this week is Vienna-Mai, she has had excellent behaviour learning this week - always ready to listen and learn. She created a wonderful firework dance with her friends and creating some beautiful artwork.

Grizedale - Elias has been a super star this week. He is always ready to listen and learn, has been an amazing helper for the children on his table, is being ambitious in all lessons and is totally shining!

Nicky Nook - Marisa has written an incredible non-chronological report that uses vocabulary to demonstrate she is an expert and cohesive devices to link the paragraphs.
