Friday 9th October

We hope you've got your costumes planned for the spooky disco - there's only a week to go now!  A big thank you from the School Association to everyone who sent in sweets today for the sweetie cones - if you forgot, please do bring them in next week.

Our Parents & Carers Evening appointments went live this week. We are using a new system for booking so please give us a call if you are struggling with it and we can book your appointment for you.

The Parish Council have asked us to make you aware that the village speed indicator device has been moved to Gubberford Lane and there has been a spike in the number of vehicles identified as exceeding the speed limit at around 8.45am. They are attributing this to drivers arriving at and leaving school. They ask that everyone please takes care to observe the speed limit in the village.

Bowland

We have been exploring The Three Bears Cottage in class this week. We’ve been learning how to mix colours to create green for our forest, making a map for Goldilocks to find her way through the forest, and constructing a new chair for Baby Bear. We've written some amazing animals' poems and continued learning fractions and number fluency. We’ve loved using our senses to make rainbow wraps with grated carrots, apples and cabbage, and ribbons of courgette. We loved tasting them! Can you make one at home?

Grizedale

We have had another busy week! In English, we have been fixing a not very exciting setting description for the Spider's parlour by using varied sentence starters and interesting adjectives! We also have been designing our own dismal den for the Spider and are looking forward to writing about it next week! In Geography this week, we revisited our learning from Bowland Class and thought about the countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom ready to learn even more about them in the next few weeks.

 Nicky Nook

In Nicky Nook this week we have been creating musical instruments from recycled materials. We were amazed by the sounds we can create and the way the instruments look. We will add them to Class Dojo as soon as they are complete. In maths we have been adding and subtracting decimals. The problem-solving questions were really challenging and made us think very hard! Nicky Nook have had an incredible week of learning.

Bowland -  Bowland’s Lead Learner this week is Henrique. He has been showing off his amazing storytelling skills and has been working hard on his phonics. Well done

Grizedale— Lead learner this week is Nelson. Nelson has been ready to learn immediately ALL week. He has given all of his work 100% effort, particularly standing out in maths and handwriting. He has been a role model for demonstrating our class rules to everyone else. Well done Nelson!

Nicky Nook—   Sophia has demonstrated incredible behaviour for learning as she tackled problem-solving in maths this week. She always demonstrates resilience to help her master new skills. Sophia is also reading every day which is such an important skill for learning. Well done Sophia!
